"World University Rankings" released its latest ranking on Wednesday. It includes Belgian universities.
Academic reputation, the reputation of graduates with employers, citations in research journals, and the H-index (an indicator that measures the productivity and impact of published research) are the 4 criteria used to make this ranking.
In Belgium, 194 courses from ten Belgian higher education institutions were evaluated and fourteen Belgian faculties entered the ranking this year.
The Catholic University of Leuven (UCLouvain) is in the top 50 for three disciplines.
"The data collected for this year shows that 16% of Belgian universities score 90/100 or more on the criterion of 'citations in research journals', which reflects the remarkable nature of the research conducted by Belgian higher education," commented QS spokesman Jack Moran.
