𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐆𝐈𝐔𝐌: 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 𝐕𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑 Production, research, innovation... Belgium is at the forefront in all areas. Thanks to the presence of foreign pharmaceutical companies, but also to the excellence of our #universities. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Thanks to world-renowned #universities and a very broad partnership between industry and these universities, the country offers an ideal ecosystem for vaccine development. The number of international experts of Belgian origin at the helm of the Covid vaccine is testimony to this Belgian success story. 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 Moncef Slaoui, named Mr. Vaccines USA by Donald Trump, testifies: “There are the best experts, the experience, the infrastructure: it's impossible to duplicate elsewhere”. This Belgian-Moroccan went through the #ULB, taught at the #UMons and made a career as number 2 and president of the GSK vaccines department. Jean Stéphenne, the former GSK boss, is his mentor, another Belgian, Walloon. He was appointed chairman of the board of CureVac, a large German start-up company working on vaccines using messenger RNAs against Covid-19. The World Health Organisation's director for Europe is... still a Belgian. Hans Kluge has a degree in surgical medicine and obstetrics from #UCLouvain. Since May 2020, Jean-Michel Dogné, doctor in pharmaceutical sciences at the #ULg, has been a member of the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety since May 2020. 𝗔 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 Belgium has been able to create a virtuous circle with both expertise and a highly skilled workforce. The country has a breeding ground and an ecosystem with universities doing research at a very high level in addition to companies. Finally, Belgium is a land of quality clinical studies. 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 Belgium's strength is also its brains. The education system is very efficient. And Belgians are often multilingual and more flexible than their neighbours. This is the benefit of being a small, complex country with a multicultural character. 🤩𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺?
