An international team including astronomers from the University of Liège have detected 138 new rocky bodies around ten metres in diameter in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. These are the smallest asteroids ever detected in this region.

This discovery has important implications for the asteroid population and planetary defence, according to an article by the researchers published on Monday in the journal Nature.
