Established in 1927 by architect and decorator Henry van de Velde, the École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre (ENSAV) is one of Belgium’s most important schools of art and design.
It numbers 700 students split amongst the 19 artistic departments or workshops: ceramics, animation cinema, design, urban space, engraving and the printed image, painting, photography and sculpture, as well as a department for restoring works of art and, in the design field, the industrial design and textile design options, design of books and paper, interior architecture, scenography, accessories, fashion design and creation, as well as two graphics departments – graphic and visual communication, typography. For the start of the 2020 academic year, it will offer a new Master’s course in Literary creation and texts.
