Innovation and scientific excellence continue to thrive in Wallonia-Brussels. UCLouvain has recently inaugurated a new BSL-3 (Biosafety Level 3) laboratory, a highly secure research facility designed to study dangerous and emerging pathogens under strictly controlled conditions.

Led by Professors David Alsteens and Anika Gillis, the research team aims to deepen our understanding of viruses and other pathogens, paving the way for future treatments and vaccines while strengthening preparedness for future health challenges.

This new facility highlights once again the strength of research and innovation in Wallonia-Brussels and the commitment of its universities to addressing some of the world's most pressing scientific challenges.
