University of Liège (ULiège) is one of Belgium's leading universities. ULiège is the public university of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. It includes 11 Faculties representing the Humanities, Health Sciences, Sciences and Technology. ULiège welcomes 26,600 students, 24% of whom are of international origin (130 nationalities). Its range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses is among the most diversified in Belgium. ULiège is located in 3 cities in Wallonia: Liège, Gembloux and Arlon. ULiège is a major employer in Wallonia: more than 5,800 employees, including 16% Academic staff (professors) and 48% involved in teaching and research activities. Together with the University Hospital (CHU) of Liège, this represents 13,000 direct jobs spread over the provinces of Liège, Namur and Luxembourg.

With 39 bachelor's degrees and 193 master's degrees, ULiège’s range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses is among the most diversified in Belgium. ULiège’s educational programs are granted with several international quality labels (EQUIS, AACSB, AEEEV, Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, EMT). ULiège boosts its research centres in fields such as biotechnology, life and medical sciences (human and veterinary), agronomy, space and engineering sciences, environment by developing partnerships with public authorities and companies. More than 100 spin-off companies created by ULiège are in activity. The Humanities disciplines, in all their diversity (philosophy, letters, social sciences, legal and economic sciences, psychology, etc.) contribute to a fertile intellectual life, provide services to society and individuals, and benefit from major resources (libraries, heritage collections, archives, etc.). The University of Liège is the depository of a large part of the archives of the world-renowned writer Georges Simenon.
