Founded in 1831 by the Society of Jesus, the University of Namur carries on in its teaching and research the humanistic values of openness, excellence, freedom, and sustainability. Its priority is to train students and researchers to become responsible contributors to society.
Located in the heart of Europe, in the French-speaking part of Belgium, in Namur — the capital of Wallonia — the University welcomes around 7,200 students across 7 faculties, offering more than 90 academic programs. It is also active in research, with 11 interdisciplinary institutes carrying out work in fields as diverse as the ethics of nanotechnology, linguistics, computer science, human rights, veterinary science, and social sciences, among others.
The quality of its teaching and the excellence of its research have allowed UNamur to develop cooperation and exchange programs benefiting students, researchers, and professors.
Thanks to its international network, which is based on over 250 partnerships with universities and faculties abroad on five continents, UNamur offers its students in all three cycles the opportunity to gain international experience, whether through study mobilities or internships in partner laboratories or international companies.
